1. Who we are
Zentle ("Zentle", "we", "us") provides a mobile application and related services that help people track shared expenses, split bills, and settle up with friends, family, roommates, and groups, primarily for users in the United Arab Emirates.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address, phone number (optional), and a securely hashed password, or identity details provided via UAE PASS if you sign in that way.
- Financial and expense records you create: expenses, groups, splits, payment requests, cash-payment logs, and settlement records you enter into the app.
- Receipts and images: photos of receipts you choose to scan or upload, stored securely for your records.
- Device and push-notification data: a device token used to deliver notifications, and basic device/app metadata for reliability and support.
- Payment metadata: where you use a card payment or bank transfer, we process the transaction reference and status via our payment processing partner — we do not store your full card number or banking credentials.
3. How we use your information
- To operate the core features of the app: groups, expenses, splits, and settlements.
- To send you push and email notifications about activity relevant to you (e.g. a new expense in your group, a payment received).
- To secure your account and detect fraudulent or abusive activity.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To improve and maintain the reliability of the service.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Third parties we work with
Zentle uses the following categories of service providers to operate the app. Each processes only the data necessary for its function:
- Push notification delivery (e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging) — to deliver in-app alerts to your device.
- Cloud file storage (e.g. AWS S3) — to securely store receipt images you upload.
- Payment processing (e.g. PayTabs) — to process card payments; Zentle never receives or stores your full card number.
- UAE PASS — if you choose to sign in with UAE PASS, identity verification is handled by the UAE PASS platform under its own privacy terms.
- Email delivery — to send transactional emails such as password resets and payment notifications.
We may add support for additional UAE payment networks in the future; this policy will be updated accordingly before any such feature goes live.
5. Data retention
We retain your account and expense data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 8).
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your account is protected by secure, short-lived session tokens. We do not store your bank login credentials or full card numbers. No system is perfectly secure, and we continuously work to improve our safeguards.
7. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email before they take effect.
